Absolutely thrilled you are writing on substack now. I have never used non stick for the reasons you outlined and am blessed with kids who take care. Nevertheless am so pleased to be here. I have followed you for many years since one of your earliest pieces in the guardian on budget beauty. Astonished that I now choose how to spend money, I can go high end when I fancy. If Sali recommends it, I’ll investigate! Your breadth of knowledge and passion for perfume is inspirational. Thanks for everything Sali, you are wonderful.

Love this engaging piece… “the absolutely enraging recklessness with which my family handles my property”… brilliantly funny and informative, what a great combo! ❤️

Green Pans are great for a year, may be two, but then the coating loses its non-stick power. I’ve been buying them since they launched; they’ve got better over the years, but still not long-lasting. A few months usage is not enough to go on.

Agree with you. I’ve been beyond disappointed with mine. Looked so beautiful fresh out of the box but within a few months quite a bit of the ceramic coating has come off. Replaced with Ninja now so fingers crossed

Trustpilot shows they are shockingly bad.

I enjoyed your colourfl description of the problem but to recommend pans on their durability after a few months is not great.

Loved ‘she is consequently close to murdering them in their beds’.

So it’s not just me! Though it’s fingerprints on glossy kitchen cupboards that drives me spare…

I’m coming back to make a happy report! I bought a sauté style one off Amazon.de for 25€ and I absolutely love it. Nothing sticks, eggs are perfect, now I’m making stuffed peppers in tomato sauce in it and am so pleased with it that I’m going to buy another one. Thank you, Sali!

Some things are universal it seems! I’ve opted for ninja ceramic and they’re also great, extremely robust. I’ve hidden the metal utensils for much less effective silicone as an additional precaution 😝 Will definitely consider this brand when I next invest.

What a funny coincidence, I’ve been looking for a frying pan (two exactly) to replace our coating-is-now-dangerously-peeling-off pans. And I simply didn’t know where to look and what reviews to trust. And then there were the prices! This is very helpful, thank you Sali!

Greenpans are great, and claim to be a ‘non-toxic’ alternative to the normal non-stick coating. No idea if that’s true, but I bought my first pan from them over ten years ago and whilst the outer pan coating has worn off in the dishwasher, the nonstick remains in great nick!

I am desperate for new pans. I have a heavy based stainless steel set which I bought about 25 years ago which I absolutely love. They're still amazing, but now the handles are starting to come away from the body.

Cristel with detachable handles are brilliant and so easy to store/wash.

Do you find them deep enough, Sali? I replaced all of my pans recently and while the width is what I expected/ needed, the depth is not, so I end up using much wider pans for a relatively small volume of food. I get hugely and irrationally irritated every time!
